Katniss

The main character in this book is 16- year- old Katniss Everdeen. She is brave, strong, a good climber, good aim with a bow and arrow, and is very protective of those that she loves. She hunts with Gale who is two years older than her. Her life before the Games is mainly focused on keeping her mom and sister alive and fed. Katniss pretends to be in love with Peeta throughout the Games, but the whole time Peeta wasn't pretending, and gets mad at her when he finds out she was. The reason Katniss went along with the act during the Games was to get sponsors. When she gets back home she has to decide between Peeta and Gale. In the Games Katniss tries even harder to fight after Rue, her ally, dies. The reason Katniss gets so attached to Rue, is because she reminds Katniss of her little sister Prim.
